Your Starter Motor Solenoid - What Is It?

For starters, a starter motor solenoid is an electrical device which when activated, by means of a torsion spring, will open the spark plug. The spark plug normally forces the compressed air and gas from the intake manifold to enter the combustion chamber. Once inside, it mixes with the fuel burning within and moves the fuel combustion cycle.

In case of a starter motor solenoid that has gone into the closed position, it stops the flow of air and gas from the intake manifold to the combustion chamber. It is because the ignition coil that is connected to the engine has never gone in this closed position. The torsion spring from the solenoid is used to maintain the closed position of the solenoid. There are three types of starter motor solenoid; they are the solenoid control solenoid, the spark plug control solenoid and the torsion spring solenoid.

A solenoid control solenoid has the circuit breaker that prevents the ignition coil to come into the closed position. When a spark plug, which is part of the starter motor solenoid, becomes worn out, the hole in the shaft of the spark plug is not big enough to get the compressed air and gas to pass through. The compressed air and gas are then forced by the force of the spring, up through the hole. This means that the control solenoid solenoid loses its function.

The starter motor solenoid is also known as the spark plug solenoid. It allows the starter motor to turn off when the engine is cold.

The third type of starter motor solenoid is the torsion spring solenoid. It is used for a lot of purposes including the start-up of the vehicle and running of the engine. The spring is part of the solenoid that requires a little bit of tension so that it turns properly.

Like other electrical devices, the starter motor can also be confused with its identification. When you talk about a starter motor solenoid, you would also be talking about the starter solenoid, which is designed for cars and other forms of vehicles.

To maintain the proper functioning of a starter motor solenoid, there are certain precautions that must be taken. The first one is to properly change the spark plugs every time that the vehicle is plugged up or when the batteries need charging.

Secondly, you have to also check the wire connections for the solenoid. Thirdly, it is also recommended that you keep the engine in a safe working condition. The four-wheel drive vehicle needs to be parked to allow the spring to continue working properly.
