What's the Difference Between a Mercury Six HP Carburetor and a Mercury HETech Carburetor?

But recently, the carburetor industry has evolved to include more modern designs. Some of these designs are superior in performance to those produced by Mercury. So why have they done this?

The resulting effects are predictable fuel wastage. During periods when fuel economy is improved, these waste products are usually expelled from the exhaust. A major downside of running a Mercury-based engine is its higher maintenance requirements. Not only is carburetor clean-burning mercury but it also requires regular spark plugs and filter changes, as well as maintenance to keep the air filter clean. For many drivers, this could prove to be too much of an effort for them to dedicate to.

On the other hand, the 6 HP carburetor features a much simpler design. The main contributing factor in its efficiency lies in its single carburetor system, which allows for a greater degree of random ignition and reduced fuel wastage. This translates into better efficiency and less costly fuel bills, making it a popular choice amongst small vehicle users. However, this efficiency comes at a price. Because of its unique design and fuel-saving ability, the carburetor costs more to run than the Mercury.
